Hammocks has been the mainstay business since the early years of Twin Oaks. In the new millenium, with the loss of a major hammock account, our soyfoods business has assumed nearly equal importance.

We've had other cash-earning businesses over the years. Book indexing has been important and remains so, and there have been many others that contributed, some for brief times, and some continuing for years.

As of 2009, growing organic heirloom seeds for Southern Exposure Seed Company and others has become a significant income earning activity.

    Twin Oaks Indexing is a collective of individuals trained to create a clean and thorough back-of-book index. We've been doing this work since a friend of the community brought this to us in 1981.

  • Seed Growing

    Grown on our own land and on a few rented plots of lands, as of 2008 we've been growing and processing organic heirloom seeds for wholesale distribution to Acorn's Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and to other retailers.

  • Herbs

    Our beautiful herb garden has a fascinating array of culinary, medicinal, aromatic, and flowering plants. Herbs are for sale. The garden is open by appointment. There is an annual spring workshop.
