Twin Oaks houses are divided into small living groups. Sunrise SLG is a household of 9 adults and 2 childen at Twin Oaks. We are unique among Twin Oaks residences in that we use solar electricity and have particular social agreements. Our house is very well insulated, with lots of natural lighting and is the only group that has uses solar / wood heated hot water exclusively, no propane. . Reading Window School

Sociocratic Resource Circle
Sociocracy is a form of governance which attempts to maintain the equivelent power between all participants. In the SRC we practice using sociocracy and help other decision-making bodies at Twin Oaks try it out. Video

is a community forming based on the life long desire to learn, play and teach. A community where the pursuit of knowledge, systems thinking, personal growth, health and recreation are the main goals. There is passion, and synergy in proactive learning and play with others that satisfies the soul, matures the spirit and frees the creative juices. I envision a community of people who wish to prioritize their time and resources to learn the knowledge and skills that empowers a human being personally and in our society at large. Walden Two Fan Site Twin Oaks was originally meant to be based on B.F. Skinner's 1948 utopian novel, Walden Two. That plan was discarded long ago...Why? And what does it mean to us today?
