Jonah started walking in November. Imani, now nine, is enjoying her first taste of gymnastics competition. At her first meet in December, she placed individually in all areas and was on the winning team. Asana, six years old, started gymnastics in mid-January. Arlo (and Ted and Samadhi) are getting a ferret. Imani and Cedar are co-writing a really scary story about killer clowns and killer monkeys. All the middle-aged kids are obsessed with Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. Many of them are into a video game called The Sims, where the goal is to get a high paying job and buy a mansion. Sage was in a short school play called "These Wonderful Years", playing a depressed girl with self-esteem problems. Other Quickies First casualty of the New Bike Era: equipment failure led to a badly broken ankle for Indigo. Keenan visited a Costa Rican free school/community. Worried about how to get there from the airport, his plane was met by 15 people wearing "Summerhill loves Twin Oaks" t-shirts. Our new wood splitter is easier to use, and faster, and more fuel efficient than the old tractor-powered one. And it doesn't tie up a tractor. The bump in the Women's Living Room floor continues to grow. Population continues to rise. On January 1st of 2000, 2001, and 2002, Twin Oaks was home to 68, 73, and 83 adults, respectively. For a total of 24 days, we had three sibling members (two sisters and a brother). Ex-kid Devon has been staying at T.O. off and on since New Years. Her two CDs and gig schedule is available at www.DevonMusic.com. We have a new dog, named Uxima Squirrel. Kristen's stray lab mix puppy was approved to be a temporary fifth dog. Ground hog day came and went with no sightings. Probably that's because we trapped and ate them all last year. Hope of getting Pee Wee Herman here for 35th Anniversary has faded but is not completely extinguished. Large money donations to entice Pee Wee are welcome. |
