Tuition and things like that
<

Tuition is $5,000 per student per academic year.

Summer camp fees will be per "event". Kids will be able to come to one two hour event (say, a pottery workshop) or for an entire week of events. The price of each event has not yet been determined.

The age of students we have accepted to date range from 5 to 12, with most students between 7 and 10. For 2001 we are not accepting students beyond this age range.

We offer a hefty incentive for parents to be involved. We deduct $20 per hour for parent (or other adult) involvement, (Up to the full cost of tuition. (We can't afford to pay out $20 an hour.)) A parent working at the school for a mere 4 hours can send their kid to one week of camp. A parent working 8 hours a week will cover the full cost of a year's tuition. Perhaps you can tell from this that we really value parental involvement.

And if that doesn't meet the needs of your situation we are also willing to come up with other creative, mutually beneficial tuition options.

The school is not accredited.

We are designing the school for maximum flexibility. It will be possible for other home schoolers to sign on to some of our school trips. We will work out a per trip fee, or labor exchange ratio as we organize each trip.

Our low student to teacher ratio is precious to us, so our spaces our limited. As we make plans we are willing to make commitments to parents and students who make early commitments to us.

Part of the experience of the school will be travelling. There will be many school trips which will be several days or weeks long. Parents are welcome on these trips.

The application process to Twin Oaks school is interactive. We ask that the children applying come and hang out with the other children of the school for a day as part of the application process. Additionally we require an interview with each child and one or both parents before we will make a decision to accept that child to Twin Oaks school.
