Stone head by Sean Samoheyl, self-taugh folk artist
Sean Samoheyl's self-taught art. Looking around on the web it seems others have described the sort of work Sean does variously as outsider art, self-taught art, raw art, visionary art, or art brut. Sean has had a little formal training at a community college in the form of a couple of painting classes, so his art isn't entirely the work of an outsider. Still, his work and techniques are nearly totally self-taught. So these genre descriptions would appear to be the most reasonable ones to use.
