Our Businesses

A number of Twin Oaks’ communal businesses have been undergoing changes due to the fire at our industrial site, continued impact from the pandemic, etc.

Currently our biggest income area is our whole-sale seed-selling business. Both our soyfoods (tofu) and hammocks businesses are in transition from their past iterations. Indexing is continuing.

Here below is historic/previous information about our businesses for your general information:

Hammocks has been the mainstay business since the early years of Twin Oaks. In the new millenium, our soyfoods business has gradually come to assume equal importance. As of 2010 the soy business is still expanding, while hammock income has reached a plateau.

We've had other cash-earning businesses over the years. Book indexing has been important and remains so, and there have been many others that contributed, some for brief times, and some continuing for years.

As of 2009, growing organic heirloom seeds for Southern Exposure Seed Company and other companies has become a significant income earning activity.
