Peridiodic cicadas are completing another 17-year cycle here.
Typically visitors in the three week Visitor Program throw a party for the community. The latest group cleverly came up with a unique theme for the two parties they plan to throw during their visitor period.
The 17-year periodic cicadas are now completing another cycle. As of late May 2013 the earth is punctured by countless holes from the emerging insecst and the ground under every tree is heavily littered with live and dead cicadas as well as their molt shells. Their sound, which tapers down or completely off during cool nights, is filling the forest and getting louder by the day.
